PODtriangle presents - The English Cello
About
PODtriangle is an Australian charity established to provide quality stringed instruments for musicians who cannot afford them and are playing on violins, violas, celli and bassi that do not align with their ability levels. This event will be fun, educational and a great networking opportunity.
Join us to listen to some wonderful cello music played by world class cellists including Josephine Vains and Rohan de Korte. During the event we will explore the English Cello making school and see and hear real instruments from important luthiers including Benjamin Banks, John Betts, Thomas Dodd, ‘Royal’ Forster, Joseph Hill, and Thomas Kennedy. In addition to playing cello pieces, we will undertake a blind listening exercise to further enhance the learnings and enjoyment of these lovely instruments. What is the difference between making styles? Is there an 'English sound'? Is an old cello better than a new one?
This will be of interest to cellists but also the wider public who are interested in stringed instruments and supporting musicians.
