missional things - 17 June 2026
About
An invitation to conversations about missional things. An invitation to community.
At our first MISSIONAL THINGS gathering in July 2025, we were encouraged by the opportunity to connect with people from right across the Presbytery (and beyond!) and to hear the stories of all kinds of missional activities taking place in many of our churches and communities. We are a diverse bunch! And this diversity is reflected in the variety of activities and initiatives we are dreaming up, giving a go, supporting, wrestling with, advocating for, prioritising and offering generously to our local communities.
Our plan is to hold regular MISSIONAL THINGS gatherings, in different places and formats. Over time we’ll explore a range of topics and areas of mission – we’ll talk theology, creativity, practice, governance and much more.
These gatherings are a space to connect with a supportive and encouraging community, to be inspired to participate in God’s work of renewal and reconciliation in the world, in whatever unique way we can, wherever we are.
The next MISSIONAL THINGS gathering on Wednesday 17 June will take a deep dive into OP SHOPS.
We’ll consider what it might mean for a congregation to run an Op Shop as a missional activity. And we’ll talk about the practicalities involved with running one.
There are currently four Op Shops run by UCA Congregations within the Presbytery. We’ll look forward to hearing their stories and learning from their experience.
