The Songwright - Tools For Song Craft with John Flanagan
About
"We all know when we hear a song that rings with truth. Whether the words are clear or ambiguous, coming from an amateur or professional, there's a feeling that comes from a song written from a deep, authentic place." — John FlanaganIn this intimate 4-week live online course, acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter John Flanagan, whose songwriting has been compared to the great folk troubadours of the 60s and 70s, shares the creative tools he's developed across twenty years of writing and performing.
Each week features a 2-hour Zoom session blending teaching, writing exercises and song sharing* in a group capped at just 10 participants, creating a safe, encouraging space to take creative risks. You'll explore how to connect with your own creativity, shake off the inner critic, understand how chord choices shape mood and feeling, and begin drawing on personal experience to write lyrics that ring true.
*Sharing is always optional and could vary from sharing a line of lyrics to sharing a whole song.
For beginner to intermediate songwriters ready to find their voice.
