About
A Heart-Warming Aussie Adventure for the Whole Family.Step into the world when the famous Banjo Paterson poem Waltzing Matilda was written with EGTC’s production Once a Jolly Swagman, Eaton Gorge Theatre Company’s original, joy-filled reimagining of Australia’s most iconic bush tale. Set in the 1890s, this lively production brings the spirit of the outback to life—complete with campfire humour, heartfelt storytelling, and the grit and charm of early Australian settlers.

Their love story unfolds through handwritten letters carried across vast distances, capturing a time when connection relied on patience, resilience, and hope. Along the way, Sam shares bush yarns, songs, and stories that paint a vivid picture of life on the road.
Featuring live music, this interactive performance invites audiences to sing, dance, laugh, and join in the fun. With its blend of history, humour, and heartfelt moments, Once a Jolly Swagman is a warm, family-friendly celebration of Australia’s past—perfect for audiences young and old.
