Gel Plate Printing with Helen
About
Join Helen in this fun workshop.Gel plates are a fun way to create a stash of colourful printed papers which you can use for
collage art, in journals, card making, wrapping small gifts etc. The process is easy with a little
practice, and can produce unexpected and highly creative results, using acrylic paints and a
brayer (roller) to apply the paint. We will also use stencils, stamps, texture tools, packaging and
found materials to create interesting textures in multi layered prints.
You will learn:
- What is a monoprint, different from a print from art
- What gel prints can be used for - examples
- Equipment used and how to look after these
- You'll produce Single and multi-coloured background sheets
- You'll use background sheets to add a textured layer using stamps, bubblewrap, stencils,
texture tools, found materials
- Learn about Cleanup sheets - roll off, tissue to pickup,
- Free play & stash making
- Cleanup - how to clean your gel plate and brayer
TAKE HOME: A framed gel printed piece and an assortment of works you have practiced. You may like to book your next class to follow up with using these in a collage or mixed media piece!
