Gel Plate Printing - Botanicals
About
Suitable for total beginners - no prior painting experience required.Gel plates are a fun and accessible way to create a monoprint without needing a printing press. There are many techniques and materials which can be used on a gel plate and the results are colourful, sometimes unexpected and highly creative. This workshop is ideal for anyone who has already learnt how to make a simple gel plate print, and is now ready to try some new techniques.
Using acrylic paints, and different types of paper, you will be learning how to get fabulous detailed botanical prints on a Gel plate using acrylic paints, and fresh or dried leaves, grasses or weeds from the garden. Learn what types of plants produce the best results, should they be fresh, dried, pressed flat, or is there another way to preserve foliage for future use???
Techniques include using the foliage like a stencil or mask, getting a ghost image, and getting all the tiny details in a single print! Spend some time making lots of prints you can take home.
Finally we will create a special combination print using leaves and stencils for something more complex with fabulous patterns and colours of your choice.
At the end of the workshop you will choose your favourite print of the day and frame it to take home ready to display.
All materials are included.
