Colour Theory
About
All skill levels.Ever wondered how artists and designers get colours to work so well? Sometimes it is pure intuition, but more likely they’ve learnt some basic colour theory, taking the guesswork of how to mix colours and how to use colour to the best effect in your artwork.
You really just need three colours…not a giant palette!
This is not going to be a boring workshop of just painting colour wheels. We will briefly go into the theory and function of primary, secondary and tertiary colours, their useful colour combinations , (complimentary, analogous, triadic and tetrad), explore what 'tint, tone and hue' means and how to mix colours to create great shadows and contrasts. Then some experimentation and probably make a big colourful mess. We’ll end up testing some of that colour theory by painting a loose bowl of fruit - your framed keepsake of this colourful workshop.
