Youth and Love in the Age of Modernism
About
"The publication in 1910 of the Piano Trio of the 13 year old Erich Korngold stunned the musical world. They wondered how a thirteen year old had such an astounding grasp of modern harmony.” (Wilhelm Altmann). This youthful work will be paired with poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke, whereas the other work on our next program, Frank Bridge's Piano Trio No. 2, will be coupled with The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot - all evidencing the beauty of literature and music in the early 20th century Age of Modernism. The Hartley Trio will again be assisted by the poetic radiance of Mitch Riley.Date
