Bonus Session for Instructors 8:30am - 9:15am
Dojo brand and marketing | Reece Cummings, Zen Creative Solutions

Session 1 9:30am | Karate | Peter Zarb
Kumite-Ho ~ basic sparring methods: Explore the binary nature of combat and creates a simple blueprint for action. These 4 sets of 5 techniques focus on two key principles: 1. Evasive Angular movement for power generation through your opponent, and 2. Blocking and countering in one smooth action. This seminar with focus on 2 person drills in a traditional budo format, and conclude with free-form yawara kumite to explore implementing these strategies in a spontaneous environment.

Session 2 11:00am | Karate | Cheyne McMahon

Session 3 1:00pm | Kobudo | Mark Slingo
Jo Bo no Waza: Drill teaching fundamental blocks and strikes using both weapons. Use of footwork (ashi sabaki) is used extensively to ensure successful evasion of attacks and to move into striking range of the opponent. While initially taught using the jo and bo, the kumite can also be adapted to other weapons. Experienced students will note certain stances and movements closely resemble those of other kobudo weaponry. Please bring your own weapons.
