Hosted by Monash Health Health Promotion, this Schools' Health and Wellbeing Community of Practice (CoP) will focus on Prevention in Practice: Alcohol, Drugs & Vaping and feature OurFutures Institute as a special guest.The OurFutures Teacher Masterclass is a practical, evidence-based professional learning session designed to upskill school educators to respond confidently and effectively to vaping, alcohol, drugs and student wellbeing, using best-practice strategies and evidence. This session has been informed by leading researchers from The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney, and translates the latest research into real-world strategies you can use immediately in your school context.
What to expect if you attend:
-Clear, evidence-based guidance on prevention-led approaches in schools
-An overview of the recent statistics and trends in youth substance use and vaping, as well as their impact on the adolescent brain
-Practical strategies to support student wellbeing and behaviour conversations around drugs, alcohol and vaping
-Opportunities to reflect on current school practices.
The free session is open to all schools, including leadership, wellbeing coordinators and school nurses, in Cardinia Shire, City of Casey and City of Greater Dandenong.
