Robotics (Years 7 - 8) Holiday Camps | July 2026
About
Robotics and engineering camps for Year 7 and 8 students, run by Barker Robotics. Choose Intro to Engineering (CAD and 3D printing), Programming Skills (Python and AI vision on the VEX AIM platform) - or attend both across the holidays. All equipment is provided and group sizes are limited to 16 students. We welcome students with all levels of experience. Whether your child has some previous experience with Robotics before - or this is their first time, there is a place for them in the Holiday camps.
CAMP OPTIONS
There are two variants of camps, and students may choose to attend either, or both variants.
Intro to Engineering is two half-day engineering workshop introducing students to computer-aided design and 3D printing, the tools real engineers use to bring ideas to life. Students learn to model in industry-standard CAD software, moving from first sketches to a finished 3D design, then print their creation to take home. Along the way they develop the spatial reasoning, design iteration, and problem-solving skills at the heart of modern engineering. No experience needed, just an interest in designing and making.
Programming Skills is a two-day programming workshop for students interested in the code behind robotics. Working on the VEX AIM platform, students use Python and onboard AI vision to program robots to sense, decide, and act, with no mechanical building, just code. Through a series of autonomous challenges designed by Barker Robotics, students build real programming skills and an understanding of how robots make decisions. Some prior coding or robotics experience is helpful but not required.
