ACPA Conference 2026
The Australasian Catholic Press Association invites all Catholic communications and media professionals across Australia and the Pacific to the 2026 Annual Conference in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Join us at this year’s conference where we will explore Pope Leo XIV’s call to protect humans against the worst aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is our duty as Catholic journalists and communicators to share stories that ‘lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace’ (Magnifica humanitas, §15).
The conference and the ACPA awards dinner will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Christchurch. Guest speakers include:
- Cardinal John Dew (Archbishop Emeritus of Wellington, NZ), who was at the conclave to elect Pope Leo XIV
- James Bergin, Catholic Technologist and Digital Ministry Specialist
- Chelsea Houghton, Strategic Communications and Fundraising Specialist
- Charles Ropitini (Ngāti Kahungunu), a Member of Compassion Te Whare Māori for Wairoa and Heretaunga with a special focus on Venerable Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert and her 2026 Centenary Year
- Mena Antonio, Chief Executive of Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand and Vice-President of Caritas Internationalis, the world’s second-largest humanitarian network.
