FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Who is this session for?
This session is designed for students currently in Year 12. The final year of school can be intense - this session will help you reduce some of the pressure and start thinking about what else you need to do to set yourself up for success beyond Year 12.
Q: What will be covered in the presentation?
Alana will focus on three key areas:
-
The Playbook For Success Beyond Year 12: What it is and the actions you need to take to start building yours
-
The Casual Jog Years: What they are and why they're so important to start planning for
-
The Career Support Team: Identifying who is going to help get you where you want to go...and who is going to hold you back
Q: Is this aimed at specific pathways?
No, the presentation is general and there will be something you can take away regardless of what you’re interested in doing. We won’t be covering specific advice around university preferences etc.
Q: I already know what I want to do, should I still attend?
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: This presentation isn't about picking a pathway, it's about the actions and mindsets you need to build a successful career. This information will be helpful regardless of how confident you are in your career decisions.
Q: Is this suitable if I have no idea what I want to do yet?
Definitely. This session is especially helpful if you're still exploring options or feeling unsure.
Q: When and how does the session take place?
The session is live online via Zoom. You’ll receive the link in your confirmation email after registering and an option to add the event to your calendar.
Q: Will a recording be available? I may not be able to make it live.
Unfortunately, no. Audience members often share sensitive information so we think it is best to make it live only. A presentation may be recorded for our internal use.
Q: How long is the session? What if I can’t stay for the whole time?
The session is 60 minutes, including a Q&A at the end where you can ask Alana questions directly. If you can’t stay for the whole time that’s totally fine - join us for however long you can. To get the most out of the presentation, we recommend setting the hour aside with no distractions.
Q: Is there a cost to attend?
The session is free for Year 12 students, with costs covered by VTAC.
Q: Can I ask questions during the session?
Absolutely! There will be a dedicated Q&A segment where you can ask questions live. Please note that Alana cannot provide specific advice around pathways. In this case she will refer you to the careers professional in your school or to VTAC.
Q: Do I need to prepare anything in advance?
No, just bring yourself (and maybe a pen and notepad!)
Q: Can I share the registration link with my friends?
The more people who hear this information the better so feel free to share the registration link with your friends.
Q: How do I register for the event? What happens next?
Hit the “Register Now” button on this page and fill in your details. You will then receive a confirmation email containing the Zoom link to join the call. You will also have the option to add the event to your calendar. We will be sending reminder emails out before the event.
