Basic Bobath Course
About
The 15-day intensive Basic Bobath workshop will cover neurophysiology lectures on systems control, spasticity, neuroplasticity and more, as well as normal movement practical sessions. This series will cover all parts of the body: trunk, shoulder, hand, hips, feet and gait.There will be patient demonstration treatments by tutors and treating clients in pairs under the guidance of tutors.
The course is accredited by the International Bobath Instructors Training Association (IBITA).
Please note: There is a single case design or essay component to be completed prior to completion of the course.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the principles of The Bobath ConceptĀ®.
- Understand current neurophysiology relevant to the application of The Bobath ConceptĀ®.
- Understand the range of normal movement and appreciate major causes of deviations of normal movement and posture.
- Analyse movement in terms of efficiency and recognise potential causes for lack of efficiency.
- Use enhanced observation, analytical and facilitation skills, acquired through the study of normal movement, to develop individual treatment strategies for patients with movement disorders.
Prerequisites: It is highly desirable to have completed the What is Normal Movement workshop before undertaking the Basic Bobath workshop.
To attend this course we also require a Police Check (valid within 3 years), sighting of professional indemnity insurance, immunisation History & certified copy of ID.
Catering: Morning / afternoon tea will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.
