Illume Learning is thrilled to present this highly requested virtual workshop especially for teaching assistants!
Student-free school development days provide a valuable opportunity for schools to invest in the professional learning of teaching assistants and support staff. This virtual workshop has been designed specifically for teaching assistants who support students with disabilities, providing practical, evidence-informed strategies that can be applied immediately in classrooms.
Across the day, participants will explore contemporary understandings of disability, strategies for promoting participation and learning, approaches to communication and support, and ways to foster greater independence and inclusion. The workshop focuses on practical application, helping teaching assistants build their confidence and capability in supporting students to learn, participate and belong.
To provide maximum flexibility for schools and participants, all sessions will be pre-recorded and available to access between 8:00am and 5:00pm on Monday 20th July. Participants can choose when to begin, when to take breaks, and which sessions are most relevant to their role and context. If a particular session is not applicable, it can simply be skipped. This flexible format allows schools and teaching assistants to tailor the day to their individual learning needs while making effective use of valuable professional development time.
