Rhapsody - Evergreen on the Road
About
Join Quintet Evergreen for an exciting concert at St. John's Malvern East to support their upcoming adventures at the prestigious Australian Festival of Chamber Music in Cairns later this year.Join us in toying the line between classical and jazz with Gershwin’s 'Rhapsody in Blue' opening the show in all of its sultry and American beauty. Hear a world premiere of movements from a brand new commission for reed quintet by William Hanna in all of its humour, sunshine and nostalgia. And the ‘big top’, closing our show is Ton Ter Doest’s 'Circusmuziek', with seven short and exciting tumbles and leaps through the circus.
Quintet Evergreen is a Melbourne-based reed quintet that brings together five musicians from across Australia and New Zealand. In July-August 2026, the ensemble will be participating in one of Australia's leading chamber music festivals: the Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) in Cairns. This two-week residency includes intensive mentorship, rehearsals, masterclasses, and performances alongside leading Australian and international chamber musicians.
All ticket sales and donations will directly support the festival participation of the five members for Quintet Evergreen including registration fees, flights between Melbourne and Cairns, accommodation for the fifteen-night intensive, and local transport. Supporters can follow Quintet Evergreen's journey through project updates on Instagram and Facebook, where we will share our experiences and future activities.
Donations are open through trybooking. We also warmly welcome tax-deductible additional donations at:
