Description
RMP presents EVOCATION – a captivating celebration of the human voice, featuring the acclaimed Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir in a program of sublime choral music from around the world designed to uplift, awaken, soothe and inspire.
Under the direction of RMP Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Andrew Wailes, the choir will perform a rich and varied collection of works by celebrated composers including Ēriks Ešenvalds, Hye-Young Cho, Eric Whitacre, Elaine Hagenberg, Ola Gjeilo, Frank Ticheli, Dan Forrest, Joseph Rheinberger, Michael John Trotta and Iain Grandage.
A particular highlight of the program is a selection of exquisite a cappella works, showcasing the beauty, power and versatility of the choir's sound. The choir will also be joined in selected works by acclaimed Australian pianist Stefan Cassomenos and the Aurora Australia Quartet, adding further colour and brilliance to this inspiring musical journey.
Following each performance, audiences are invited to enjoy complimentary tea and coffee and meet the musicians.
Four performances will be presented in the beautiful acoustics of Melbourne's Assembly Hall, Ballarat's historic Central Uniting Church, and the iconic Castlemaine Town Hall.
