SOMA productions and New Wave Video presents the world-wide premiere, high definitition 2K restoration of NUN IN ROPE HELL. Lovingly restored by New Wave Video, Nun In Rope Hell explores the themes of redemption and damnation in one of Japanese cinema's most infamous entries. This screening will be accompanied by pre-show entertainment by SOMA Productions, including the return of the noise ensemble performing a live improvised set in cinema. This iteration of the noise ensemble will feature members of: Meth Camp Death Squad, Pubis Mons, Julia Cotton and Darmanatrix and more TBA.

Nun in Rope Hell follows guilt-ridden Takako (Miki Takakura), who seeks salvation within the walls of a secluded convent after a brutal act of violence shatters her illicit affair. But the promise of absolution is a cruel illusion. Behind the convent’s holy façade lies a hidden world of ritualised cruelty, domination, and forbidden desire—where a group of nuns, aided by a notorious novelist, transform religious devotion into an elaborate twisted theatre.

Based on a novel by legendary author Oniroku Dan, Nun in Rope Hell is a disturbing collision of penitence and perversion, faith and flesh. Drawing visual and thematic influence from Suspiria and classic nunsploitation cinema, the film fuses eroticism with psychological horror, creating an unsettling and unforgettable experience.
