Travelling across Europe through a variety of musical styles, the program ‘From Pierrot to Polonaise’ invites audiences into a series of distinctive musical worlds. Joshua Dema (cello) and Yiyun Gu (piano) will take you from the charm and elegance of Chopin’s Introduction and Polonaise Brillante and the vibrant folk spirit of Kodály’s Sonatina, to the intimate lyricism of Fauré’s Sérénade and the moonlit world of Pierrot in Debussy’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, each work reveals a unique musical character. The program concludes with Mendelssohn’s Cello Sonata No. 2, a work of both lyricism and rhythmic vitality.Date
