S3 Presents: "we love it here", feat. Garage Sale + more!
About
A Year?! A year since our second chance at existing was made possible, thanks to the trust and kindness of Echo & Bounce, and an enormous amount of community support as well? Unbelievable. By the time of our first birthday in our new home, we’ll have hosted 79 shows here - and so, for our eightieth, we wanted to throw an all-day courtyard party featuring a selection of friends who’ve played with us since our earliest days.(Also, more than 300 bands have played at Season Three, how wild is that?!)
Our friends in Garage Sale (the 47th band to ever play S3) have only made the trip up from Naarm to play at S3 once, at our former location, but we’ve been itching to get them back. They’re probably too big for our humble confines, so let’s hope the courtyard’s a more suitable location.
Blue Diner (34th)! Naaki Soul (7th)! Absolute superstars. We will never stop booking either of them, because every time is intensely special. It's so gratifying to watch "S3 bands" explode out in to the world, maybe the coolest thing ever.
Due to an error on our end, the first time we had Hicktown Barnaby (16th) here was actually the worst-attended S3 show ever. Sorry again, about that. So glad they’ve come back a bunch anyhow, including for a sold-out launch - which, come to mention it, four different bands on this lineup have sold out launches with us. That feels lovely, I love that.
01 Thurman (136th) held one of the most incredible shows of the latter Valley era of S3, along with several other appearances after that. It’s an honour to have them back. Double Date (102nd) keep growing from strength to strength. After their triumphant single launch here at our new home, they had to be a part of this day too.
Jessie L Warren - formerly of Naarm, now living on Kabi Kabi country, was (if you can believe it) the 4th artist to ever play a Season Three show. The opportunity for her vastly-underrated songs to be a part of this day was one we couldn’t pass up. On the other end of the chronology, our dear friends in Margaret (261st) are a recent addition to our community - but we can’t get enough, and had to welcome them back.
A note on pragmatism - we'll be able to add more bands if people buy tickets. Sorry to be so straight-up about it, but as always, this is not-for-profit and it just needs to cover costs. That said, we really want this to be accessible to as many folks as possible. First 50 tickets are really cheap, and pricing will increase in $5 increments with each 50 we sell. Hope that makes sense. Putting this on is crazy-style, thanks as always for all your support!!
