Christian Education, Character Formation and Wisdom
In this engaging presentation, Dr Simon Kennedy will explore how the aim of education—and particularly Christian education—is the formation of character. At the heart of Christian character formation is wisdom: learning to understand and live according to God's truth.
Drawing on the rich traditions of the liberal arts and classical education, Dr Kennedy will discuss how Christian schools can cultivate wisdom, virtue, and a love of learning in students.
Join us for an evening of thought-provoking discussion, fellowship, and dessert as we consider the foundations and purpose of Christian education.
-About Dr Simon Kennedy-
Dr Simon Kennedy is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Education at AlphaCrucis University College. A historian by training, his research focuses on Christian education and the intersections between Christianity, law, and political thought.
He is currently leading a research project entitled Christian Education, Virtue, and Wisdom, which builds on his previously published work on Christian worldview education. In addition to his role at AlphaCrucis, Dr Kennedy is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Queensland's T. C. Beirne School of Law, a Non-resident Fellow at the Danube Institute, and teaches at several theological and educational institutions across Australia.
A widely published scholar, author, and speaker, Dr Kennedy's most recent book is Against Worldview: Reimagining Christian Formation as Growth in Wisdom.
