Webinar Recording: From Teaching to Reflecting in S'vision

Moving from Teaching to Reflecting in Supervision

Webinar Recording

ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Presented by Tara Crow & Co-Hosted by Fiona Sutherland
This webinar was delivered live on June 11th 2026.
A common concern raised in SoS is that supervisors may spend too much time in the ‘Lecture Theatre’ telling supervisees what to do, at the cost of helping them develop reflective practice skills.
We take a developmental and 'cultural' lens to this dilemma and look at challenges for the supervisor AND challenges for the supervisee which may be informing this dynamic. We explore a framework for transitioning from the teaching space to the reflective space informed by Motivational Interviewing and share a selection of open question micro-skills to get your supervision heading in a more reflective, deeper learning direction.
The webinar includes a live demonstration of the conversational flow of the micro-skills taught in the webinar. Content will reference Daf Hewson’s Supervision Spaces but previous training in this model is not essential.

Registrants will receive the slides, recording, and a graphic to support integration of the webinar content into their supervision practice.
