This session will provide directors, practice managers and business leaders with a clear understanding of how project fees, staff costs, overheads and Award obligations interact. Paul will demonstrate how to use the ACA’s calculators to take account of all costs and value-adds to develop more accurate fee proposals, establish sustainable charge-out rates, and ensure salaries meet Award requirements.

Paul Viney is the President of the VIC/TAS Branch and National President of the ACA. Over his many years of service to the ACA and our members, Paul has led the development of a range of tools for the use of ACA members nationwide, such as the Time Cost Calculator and Salary Calculator to assist members in running effective, efficient and profitable practices. Paul is committed to facilitating stronger relationships with government and key organisations across the construction industry; and working collaboratively with all architectural organisations wherever possible, to achieve the best outcome for the profession. Paul is Director of FPPV Architecture, Melbourne and Director of JAI Architecture, Thailand.

Completion of this 1 hour webinar and submission of the self-checked assessment task will deliver 1 formal CPD point.
Learning outcomes – Participants will develop a stronger understanding of how project fees, staff costs, overheads and salary obligations influence the financial sustainability of architectural practice. They will learn to use tools such as the ACA Time/Cost Calculator Guide and ACA Salary Calculator to inform fee proposals and determine award-compliant remuneration outcomes. The session will also build awareness of key Architects Award obligations, business risks associated with under-pricing and non-compliance, and practical strategies for sustainable and compliant practice management.
