TIS National Workshop
More than 130 languages are spoken across our community, with the most common including Mandarin, Macedonian, Italian, Greek and Arabic. For community members from non-English speaking backgrounds, especially those who are not confident in English, everyday interactions can be stressful and isolating when information is hard to understand or they are unable to explain what they need. This can make it harder to access CN services and get the right support at the right time.
To support inclusive and effective communication, CN has access to a FREE Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) for people with limited English proficiency, through the Department of Home Affairs.
This 1-hour workshop is hosted by CN’s CALD Working Group and will provide a practical overview of how to access and use these services, including the different interpreting options available and tips for working effectively with interpreters.
Online only via Microsoft Teams. Link will be shared after registration.
This session is highly recommended for team members in customer or community-facing roles, however all staff are invited to attend.
