The Office of Medical Research and Innovation (OMRI) is pleased to host the third event in its 2026 OMRI Speaker Series, featuring Chief Data Officer Natalia Kacperek.
The OMRI Speaker Series provides a regular forum for thought leadership, discussion and sector‑wide engagement across Western Australia’s health and medical research and innovation ecosystem.
In this session, Natalia Kacperek, Chief Data Officer at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and Chair of the WA Government’s AI Advisory Board, will share insights from her experience leading data, policy and innovation initiatives across the public sector. Drawing on her work across areas such as data integration, information sharing and the responsible use of emerging technologies, Natalia will explore the opportunities and challenges of leveraging data to inform decision-making and drive better outcomes for Western Australians.
Participation is encouraged either in person or online. This event will be delivered as a hybrid session, with opportunities for both in‑room and virtual engagement.
About the speaker
Natalia is the Chief Data Officer at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and the Chair of WA Government’s AI Advisory Board. Prior to this, she drove the strategic use of information throughout a number of public sector roles in policy, strategy and analytics.
Natalia is passionate about using data to address complex social, health, environmental and economic issues. She was responsible for establishing PeopleWA, an asset which links data from a number of social services agencies to improve government policy, decision making and research. She also drove the establishment of Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Legislation and the implementation of the AI Policy and Framework in WA.
Natalia has a Master in Statistical Data Analysis, and a Bachelor of Public Health from The University of Western Australia.
