Georgina Lewis and Vincent Ward present a powerful evening of music, textures, sounds and noises. Immerseful and deeply moving, weaving darkness and light, this is a personal response to the continuous and global concerns that emanate loudly within us.
Sidelines, the second set and the namesake of this concert, is a work created by Vincent Ward, using cello, effects and pedals. It references current living composers, songwriters, and music released in 2026; whilst also remembering that what was written in 1701 still has a valid place on today’s stage.
To open the concert, Georgina Lewis plays minimalist compositions for piano and electronics, whose subjects echo themes explored in Vincent's work. The intense and robust sounds of Philip Glass and Kate Moore are coupled with Arvo Pärt’s rarely heard Hymn to a Great City for two pianos, whose second piano part is transformed to a sonic otherworldliness with pre-recorded effects. Vincent MIGHT (as in, definitely will) join for a not-so-surprise collab.
