STEM Bees and Pollination – Adelaide Botanic Garden Excursion

Join the SA Western and Central Suburbs Homeschool Group for an exciting educator-led STEM session at the Adelaide Botanic Garden!

In this interactive program, students aged 6–14 years will explore the fascinating world of bees, pollination and plant reproduction. Led by a Botanic Gardens educator, children will discover the vital role bees and other pollinators play in our ecosystems and food production.

During the session, students will:
• Learn about pollination and why it is important
• Explore the science of plant reproduction
• Compare honeybees and Australian native bees
• Investigate other important pollinators
• Observe, record and hypothesise about pollinators in the garden environment
• Discover ways to create bee-friendly gardens at home and in the community

This hands-on excursion is a wonderful opportunity for homeschool students to connect science learning with the natural world while exploring one of Adelaide’s most beautiful gardens.

Suitable for: Homeschool students aged 6–14 years
Curriculum Links: Recommended learning content aligns with Years 3–7 Science, including biological sciences, ecosystems, plant life cycles, pollination, biodiversity, scientific inquiry and sustainability.

After the session, families are welcome to stay and enjoy the gardens together for an afternoon snack and social time. Please bring your own food and drinks.
