Secondary Schools Forum (Term 3, 2026)
About
This event offers secondary school leaders and wellbeing staff practical tools and insights to strengthen respectful relationships education, promote healthy masculinities, and support the wellbeing of young people.Dr Stephanie Wescott and Dr Naomi Pfitzner (Monash University) will present 'Understanding and Responding to Manosphere Harms in Classrooms,' exploring how manosphere ideas are emerging in schools and sharing strategies to navigate challenging conversations, strengthen critical thinking and digital literacy, and foster whole-school approaches that promote gender equality, safety and inclusion.
Drew Hanger (Jesuit Social Services) will present 'Unpacking the Adolescent Man Box,' a workshop that explores the pressures boys and young men face to conform to restrictive gender norms, the impacts these expectations can have on themselves and others, and ways to challenge harmful attitudes and behaviours. The workshop aims to build practical skills to support healthier relationships, encourage positive role modelling, and respond to resistance that may arise in these conversations.
