For the third year FILEF Sydney invites to you be part of the annual international Anti-Fascist Pasta commemoration of Casa Cervi.The Historic Anti-Fascist Pasta of Casa Cervi is a great party that has been held for many years on July 25 at the Alcide Cervi Institute in Gattatico (Reggio Emilia) and across Italian cities, towns, villages and across 5 continents. An anniversary in the name of sharing, being together, the values of anti-fascism, freedom, justice and democracy of the Cervi family. The origin of the anniversary dates back to July 25, 1943, when the Cervi offered pasta to all those present in the square of the nearby town of Campegine to celebrate the dismissal and arrest of Benito Mussolini.
In the tradition of the Cervi Family the pasta is free and to be shared with all those who aspire to a society defined by justice, freedom, direct participatory democracy and equality across all socio-economic spheres. The free and full development of all individuals is what motivated the sacrifices of those who fought for the overthrow of Nazi- Fascism in Italy 81 years ago.
More than ever, we have to reinforce our vigilance and preparedness to build broad alliances, across all spheres of society, of people who are prepared to defend and expand equality of freedom, socio-economic outcomes as well as democratic participation for all. Australia is not immune to the forces that behind their populist and faux nationalism rhetoric are driving to reduce democratic participation, freedom and more deeply entrench inequality.
Join us in unity and fun on 24 July – there will be good food, music, dancing and a camaraderie with those who want a better society and world.
The final program of the night will be distributed closer to the event.
