A full day of hands-on floristry, inspired by the Australian bush.
WHO IS IT FOR:
Whether you’re just starting out or already have experience, this workshop offers something for you. If you’re new to floristry, you’ll learn simplified designs you can recreate at home, for special occasions and in your own business. If you’re experienced, this is an opportunity to take some refreshing time out for yourself and design without pressure in an inspiring environment.
THIS YEAR'S WORKSHOP:
After meet-and-greet and cuppa in the shearer’s quarters, we’ll head to woolshed, where you’ll create your own feature arrangement in a ceramic pot, wooden box, basket or other country style container. During the process, you’ll be guided through basic floristry techniques, foam-free mechanics and practical tips to help you create something special.
As you work on your feature piece, you’ll also have access to a collection of glass bottles, perfect for displaying our smaller bits and pieces of flora. We’ll then use these to create a simple yet elegant tablescape to enjoy over lunch.
After lunch, we’ll work together to create a beautiful floral backdrop in the woolshed. Using our feature arrangements, draping fabric, rustic and vintage props and thoughtful finishing touches, we’ll style a focal point that would be perfect for a wedding ceremony or photo backdrop for a special occasion. This collaborative session is a wonderful opportunity to explore how flowers and styling can completely transform a space. We also hope to have someone who knows how to capture great photos join us :)
Winter and early spring are a beautiful time for Australian native bush flowers, so expect to work with plenty of those, alongside other locally grown flowers and foliage and foraged finds. In keeping with the resourceful spirit of bush floristry, this workshop will also help you gain more confidence in making the most of what you have on hand - without spending a fortune.
Everything will be provided, including refreshments and lunch.
Comfortable working clothes and covered shoes are recommended. You'll also need space in your car and perhaps a strong box and packing paper/towel to safely transport your feature arrangement home.
We’d love you to join us - if you have any questions or special dietary requests etc. please get in touch.
