About
Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction (ILO) and Breathing Pattern Disorder (BPD) pose major challenges in clinical practice. This one-day course is designed for respiratory physicians and trainees, ENT specialists, speech pathologists, physiotherapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals managing patients with complex breathlessness. The program draws on a decade of practical and published experience in the Alfred multidisciplinary ILO and BPD services, supported by leading external guest faculty.Topics included
- Diagnosis, investigations and differentials of complex breathlessness
- Exertional breathlessness and Exercise-induced Laryngeal Obstruction (EILO)
- Obesity-related breathlessness and EDAC
- Multidisciplinary management of complex breathlessness
- Mental healthcare aspects of complex breathlessness
- Comorbidities: asthma, sinus disease, reflux disease
- Hands-on workshops: laryngeal retraining, breathing pattern assessment and retraining
