Anita Wardell is Australia’s finest exponent of Jazz, Bebop and Scat singing.
Born in the UK she moved to Adelaide as a child where she did all her schooling and university studies. She then returned to live and work in the UK for some 30 odd years. Anita has sung and performed with many of the giants of jazz like Mark Murphy and Jon Hendricks, but none bigger than the Divine One herself, Sarah Vaughan, whom she opened for in Sydney at the Sydney Opera House. Anita is considered one of the finest performers of scatting (improvising with the voice) in the world, having won numerous awards. Tonight she will be performing a selection of tunes joined by singer-songwriter, Kathie Renner.
In 2023 Anita suffered a stroke. She has now returned to Adelaide to recuperate.

Kathie Renner
Singer-songwriter, Kathie Renner, is an Adelaide based artist who has been writing, performing and recording her material for about 30 years. Together with her various groups, Vincent’s Chair and The Search Party she has toured Europe many times. Her music and story-telling eschews stylistic boundaries to create a contemporary sound. Inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Sting and Paul Simon Kathie brings warmth, authenticity and a unique and personable manner as she connects effortlessly with her audiences.
Tonight Anita and Kathie will present a set of songs and stories by Anita Wardell in a Q&A style, and follow this with a set of Kathie’s music.
