About

Trinity Sessions, Church of the Trinity and The Effective Living Centre present Slava and Sharon Grigoryan with Kelly Menhennett (replacing Nancy Bates who has overseas commitments). This year our annual fundraising concert will be supporting Hutt St Centre. All proceeds from the concert will help Hutt St Centre with their mission to end homelessness: through addressing immediate needs such as offering a shower, a meal, or a phone recharge; providing access to over 20 visiting services, ranging from Government services to health and wellbeing supports; connecting people to housing, education and employment opportunities, and advocating for systematic change and amplifying the voices of those experiencing homelessness. Hutt St Centre help homeless people build their skills and confidence to change their circumstances for good. Every person deserves an equal chance to live a full life. Through advocacy, fundraising activities, their unwavering support and culture of respect, Hutt St Centre is working to end homelessness and injustice for the people of Adelaide.

The performers are:

SLAVA AND SHARON GRIGORYAN: The success of any collaboration is dependent on a myriad of factors, some obvious, others less tangible. Sharon & Slava Grigoryan are an example of such a synergy, resulting in music that connects deeply with the listener. Perhaps it is their union professionally and in life that provides the intangible factor fuelling their passionate and sensitive performances.
Their repertoire spans cultures, generations and genres – from standard works for guitar and cello (Vivaldi, Granados, Piazzolla) to creations by contemporary composers, their own compositions and arrangements which shine a new light on familiar favourites.
Slava Grigoryan is an acknowledged guitar master on the world stage. Sharon Grigoryan has forged a formidable career throughout Australia performing with all major symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles, including her seven-year tenure with the Australian String Quartet.
Sharon & Slava Grigoryan’s debut album ‘Our Place’ (ABC) was nominated for Best Classical Album at the 2020 ARIA Awards.

Unfortunately (for us) Nancy Bates has had offers to spend some time working and performing in Europe during August/September so is unable to perform at this concert. She is sorry that she can't do it but we wish her the best in another significant step in her expanding career.

KELLY MENHENNETT: From red winemaker in the South Australian Riverland to award-winning Americana powerhouse, Kelly Menhennett commands the room with a voice of raw force and fury. Winner of the national Telstra Road to Discovery award, her spellbinding mix of alt-country, soul, and roots has seen her share stages with the likes of Archie Roach, CW Stoneking, and Tex Perkins, as well as trading songs with Paul Kelly at Nashville's iconic Bluebird Cafe. Her Nashville-recorded album Small Dreams (produced by Neilson Hubbard and featuring Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket) reached the top three on the Rhythms Magazine charts. Armed with a sharp wit and immense magnetic charm, she is a consummate musical troubadour.

Trinity Sessions is a fully reserved seating concert style venue where the focus is on the music with bar facilities pre-show and interval. The bar is not open during the performances. Trinity Sessions sells a range of beer, wine, cider, soft drinks and small snacks. No BYO drinks allowed and no BYO food allowed into the concert space.
