It is a story of survival, friendship, and hidden power - where one girl’s discovery could unravel everything.
Laura will be in conversation with local legends, music teacher extraordinaire Roz Mackay and former Coolum SS Principal Pat Cavanagh. Attendees can look forward to a bookish afternoon of chats, readings, bedazzling, art and “shimmering” as we journey into the world of Tess and Raze. Join Laura as she shares her journey from teacher to debut YA author.

About Laura:
Laura Morris is an author and teacher. Her writing has appeared in QLD Writers’ Centre’s Pen and Pixel magazine, and her short story Tarnished is published in the 2025 Sydney Hammond Memorial Short Story Competition anthology. Her debut novel, The Wall Within, made the shortlist of QWC’s Publishable program in 2022, and the longlist of the Hawkeye Manuscript Development Prize for 2025. Laura has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Qld and a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing from the University of the Sunshine Coast. She grew up in Ipswich and Brisbane, and now lives on the Sunshine Coast with her family. She loves writing, gardening, Game Fit Tennis, and Pickleball.
