Introduction to AI Filmmaking: Human-Led Creative Workflows
About
Explore the future of screen storytelling in this 2-part online masterclass, running on Tuesday 14 July and Tuesday 21 July 2026 (one 2-hour session per week) from 6:00pm to 8:00pm AEST.Introduction to AI Filmmaking: Human-Led Creative Workflows is a practical, beginner-friendly masterclass designed to help creatives harness AI as a powerful support tool across the filmmaking process, while maintaining creative control, authorship, and ethical practice.
Across two interactive sessions, you’ll learn how AI can assist from early concept development through to visual creation and moving-image experimentation. Through live demonstrations and guided activities, you’ll gain hands-on experience creating concept materials, writing prompts, and building simple AI-assisted workflows you can apply to your own creative projects.
You’ll explore how to:
- Develop creative concepts, mood boards, and visual directions using AI
- Use ChatGPT to generate character profiles, shot ideas, and style guides
- Write effective prompts for AI image tools such as Midjourney and Adobe
- Translate still images into short video concepts using cinematic language
- Apply ethical frameworks to ensure responsible and authentic AI use
- Build a simple, human-led workflow for screen-based storytelling
By the end of the masterclass, you’ll have created a short concept pack, visual prompts, and a practical AI-supported workflow you can continue developing beyond the sessions.
This masterclass is facilitated by Julia Lewis — director/producer, AI creativity specialist, and Founder of Margarita Media. With 30 years of screen industry experience, Julia has spent the past three years working at the forefront of generative AI in creative practice. A Creative Partner for ImagineArt and Zeemo, Queensland Lead for SHE IS AI, and contributor to Creativa Magazine and AICC Creators, Julia supports creators and organisations to use AI ethically to transform storytelling, content creation, and learning experiences.
