Jindera Museum Lantern Walk 2026 (SOLD OUT)

This is a free event organised by the Jindera Pioneer Museum and kindly sponsored by Jindera Rural Care Link.The Lantern Walk is inspired by the German tradition of ‘Laternelaufen’. This festive event is centred around kindness, light, and fostering community spirit by bringing people together. The Lantern Walk celebrates the legend of St Martin of Tours, with its origins in Germany and other parts of Europe.
The walk will commence at the Jindera Village Green with singing and accompaniment from the Sing Australia Choir and the Albury City Band. The walk will conclude at the Jindera Pioneer Museum. Giant pretzels and a variety of foods and Glühwein will be available for purchase on completion of the walk at the Jindera Museum.
The walk will culminate at the Jindera Museum with the World Premiere of the Sun and Moon are Dancing, a spectacular installation of giant coloured lanterns. The capacity for this event has been reached but the installation is available to be seen each night from the 2nd to the 9th August between 5pm and 7pm; entry fees will apply for these additional openings.
