 CARRUM DOWNS HOUSE CONCERTS  -    SPECIAL  EVENT  - Sunday afternoon 2nd August 2026

Hi all.  One of the reasons I, and I know others, run House Concerts is to give emerging artists a different type of venue to be seen by new people and be heard in an intimate setting where the artist can share their talents with guests who may not have seen them at a larger commercial venue.  It can be hard for emerging artists to get exposure in the commercial venues which rely on the drawing power of established artists to attract patrons, and there is nothing wrong with that and we House Concert operators have to do the same thing. However from time to time we are compelled to feature new and emerging artists who we believe will be the next succcessful artists in the broad category of Country Music. So, this event is to showcase two artists who are at different early stages of their career, but whom I feel are already showing how talented they are and who you will see more of on the big stages in the future. Very happy and proud to welcome HAYDEN  PHILLIS and SARAH CATANIA  to  my Carrum Downs House Concerts venue. 

HAYDEN PHILLIS:  I first heard about Sydney based Hayden a couple of years ago at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and met him briefly, and then again at this years festival. It was clear he had enormouse talent having been a  graduate of the esteemed Country Music Academy in Tamworth. Hayden is a great songwriter and vocalist and musician whose music has progressed from Folk to Country to the broad Americana category all with the mentoring of his father Neil who has been a successful Country music artist himself. Hayden has attracted the attention of some of the icons of the industry such as Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson. Hayden has just released his debut album 'TOO YOUNG' which attracted a lot of attention in the industry and even a mention in Parliament by his local member and high recognition on the Apple Music play lists and his songs have been streamed on Spotify over 150,000 times. Hayden is succeeding because he is a good learner, listening to, and co-writing, with other artists, which is reflected in his debut album. Hayden is currently working on his next album whilst playing at some of the bigger folk festivals. This is a young artist who is very talented and is heading to Nashville with his parents shortly after this event to explore future opportunities to furthur his carreer.

SARAH  CATANIA:-  I have been a big fan of Melbourne based Sarah from the first time I heard her perform. There was no way she was not going to become a star in the sky of Country Music and she is well on her way now with performances at most of the major festivals and a full local and national touring schedule. Sarah is the full package as an artist, she is a great singer/songwriter with epic stage performance skills. Her music has developed rapidly over the past years and she is firmly in the Country Pop, Country Rock genre , without losing her ability to write a soulful Country ballad. In short, Sarah can write and sing anything. Her latest single release 'Your Gonna Remember Me' and her previous releases 'Front Row' and 'First Times' have taken Sarahs songwriting to a new level. Sarah has supported artists such as Andrew Swift, Lyn Bowtell, Shane Nicholson, Taylor Moss, Wade Forster, Amber Lawrence and Luke O'Shea and like Hayden, is a graduate of the CMAA Country Music Academy. Sarah has appeared at my venue before, back when she was just starting her career. I invited her to sing a couple of songs just after the break in my event featuring Felicity Urquart and Jeremy Edwards, and it is sufficient to say Sarah impressed the guests and Felicity who had some very kind words for Sarah.

* There is another great reason for me to invite these two awesome artists to perform here, they have written a song together. You will hear it at the event Please come along and join us to be immersed in the talents of these two artists. Your attendance helps them, and keeps me motivated to keep this venue running. Oh, and we will provide you with a BBQ lunch and afternoon tea.

VENUE and TIMES: - Carrum Downs House Concerts is in a street level unit in a unit complex  (third unit on left) The address will be supplied on the ticket when you book. Carrum Downs is easily accessible via Eastlink and Monash Freeways and there is good street parking nearby. Our Music Room (lounge) is a large room that can seat 40 people. It has heating and airconditioning and air purifiers, and professional sound and lighting equipment. There is a covered outdoor area with seating and we put up Gazebos if there is a threat of rain. Your ticket includes the BBQ lunch of gourmet sausages, spring roles and salads, coffee , tea and water. Gluten free is available. and you are welcome to bring other beverages.
TIMES: - Arrive at 1pm for lunch. Music is in two sessions, SARAH from 2pm to 3pm then afternoon tea , coffee, tea, cake and biscuits. HAYDEN from 3.30 PM to 4.30 PM .Artists will have merchandise for sale and will mingle with guests after the event. All funds from ticket sales go to the artists.
