Ready to turn your podcast idea into a reality?Join this 6-week online masterclass, running from Thursday 23 July to Thursday 27 August 2026 (one 2-hour session per week), designed to guide you step-by-step through creating, producing, and launching your own podcast.
The Art of Podcasting: From Concept to Launch, is a practical, hands-on course for creatives, entrepreneurs, educators, and content creators who want to develop a professional podcast from scratch. You’ll learn the full podcasting workflow - from shaping your concept and identifying your audience through to recording, editing, publishing, and promoting your show.
Across six engaging sessions, you’ll build real skills and create your own podcast launch package, including:
- A clear podcast concept and target audience
- Episode outlines and a content plan
- A recorded 3–5 minute pilot episode
- Branding and cover art direction
- A distribution and marketing strategy
You’ll also gain practical knowledge in storytelling, audio recording and editing, publishing platforms, and audience growth — leaving you with the confidence and tools to produce high-quality podcast content.

This masterclass is facilitated by Louise Thompson, an experienced creative practitioner and educator who brings industry knowledge and practical insight to help participants develop confident, sustainable creative practices.
About Louise Thompson:
Louise Thompson’s background includes industry experience as a music producer, performing artist/DJ, radio broadcaster, mentor, and event management. She holds qualifications of Certificate III in Event Management; Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; Diploma Sound Production; Bachelor Audio Production; and Masters in Creative Industries with graduate project, Divine Affliction: The Intersection of Gender and Music Production. Which covered producing an album; short film; educational blog series; and exegesis with part of the exegesis gaining publication as a chapter in Gender in Music Production with Taylor Francis group. She has been a contract employee with many
festivals and events, with roles including volunteer coordinator, event manager, sound engineer/tech or stage hand.
With two current contracts with Mullum Roots Festival and Earth Frequency Festival as volunteer coordinator. Post masters graduation, Louise was the program coordinator and school engagement coordinator of NFP organisation, One Vision Productions, delivering workshops to indigenous and at-risk primary and high school students. Louise then went into the radio broadcasting field with BayFM Community Radio where she was in multiple roles including Interview Coordinator, member of the Tech Team, member of the Management Committee and during 2025, she was the Vice President of the Management Committee.
While at BayFM Louise also co-managed and was a resident broadcaster on a weekly show, Sista’s of Spin, which was a rotation of local female DJs. Much of her role was focused on training new broadcasters on how to run the audio equipment and broadcasting technology. As the Vice President, Louise updated the broadcasting agreement and implemented an induction and onboarding procedure for new broadcasters to the station.
Her industry achievements include gaining funding from SAE Master of Creative Industries Student Bursary in 2019 with $800 awarded for participation in music production and cognition workshops with Professor Susan Rogers; she was chosen as a mentee in the AIR Women in Music Mentorship Program from November 2022 – May 2023; and was awarded the following film laurels and awards with short film ‘Divine Affliction’ selected with Byron All Shorts Film Festival 2022; Scarab Short Film Festival 2022; Bitesize Film Festival 2021; Semi-finalist with Changing Face International Film Festival 2020; and Semi-finalist with Australian Independent Film Festival 2020. Louise is committed to creating an inclusive, interactive, and high-quality learning environment.
