Loneliness: A Human Experience. A Chance to Reconnect
About
As Australia marks Loneliness Awareness Week 2026 in August under the theme “Make Room for Connection”, Jenny Kirschner, is partnering with C Care to present a community webinar exploring one of the most significant yet overlooked public health challenges of our time - loneliness.
Jenny will unpack what loneliness is, why it matters, and the profound impacts it can have on our physical, mental and cognitive health. She will also explore evidence-informed ways people can strengthen social connection—from volunteering and community activities to social prescribing. While there is no single solution to loneliness because everyone’s experience is unique, there are many pathways to connection. Attendees will hear how organisations in our community like C Care are creating those opportunities through initiatives such as the Community Club, where volunteers provide regular friendship and companionship to people experiencing social isolation.
The session is designed for anyone interested in better understanding loneliness—whether you support family members, friends, neighbours, community members, or simply want to help build a more connected community.
