This workshop will provide educators with a highly practical, evidence-based approach to teaching literacy using Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). Moving away from traditional, isolated grammar rules, participants will explore the clause as the fundamental unit of meaning, focusing specifically on the verb group and process types. Through hands-on, collaborative text-analysis workshops, teachers will build confidence in deconstructing authentic texts to deepen students' knowledge of language. Ultimately, participants will walk away with concrete strategies for teaching grammar to students in an accessible, authentic, and engaging way.
