The East Gippsland Communities for Children program will be hosting a free 4-hour workshop for professionals working to support children and families.THE ACTIVITIES:
* What trauma and intergenerational trauma informed care is and why it matters to Mob
* How trauma shows up in behaviour, relationships, body
* Principles of a trauma informed approach
* Creating safety and trust
* Knowing your role and your limits
WHAT WILL YOU GAIN:
* Understand colonisation, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma on Aboriginal peoples social and emotional wellbeing
* Learn to notice when someone's carrying trauma, and how to yarn with them in a good way without stepping outside your role
* A walk through of the tools needed to provide trauma-informed responses to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to create safety
and support their long-term development
Delivered by: Jordan Gibbs - Provisional Psychologist. Jordan is a proud Peerapper/Anglo-Celtic man with over a decade of experience in Aboriginal Health Research and teaching, and in clinical practice since 2021.
