Our Local FIRM is a group of business owners and managers who get together for lunch each month to share news, views, opportunities and challenges in business and life. We have the golden rule of "no selling" - we are there for the Fun, Inspiration, Relationships and Meaning because they are what the group is all about. At each lunch, we have a discussion on a particular subject of common interest and we collect songs from you to put on our Youtube Music playlists for everyone to enjoy. This month, we are having a conversation about the new Work From Home law that the Victorian Government is introducing from 1 September 2026 and a year later for small businesses. What effect will it have, what obligations will employers have, what grounds are there for refusing a request and what should you really be doing about it? And how does it interact with existing rights that workers have to request a flexible working arrangement? Yes, it is complicated but we'll try to have a bit of fun with it.
