Australian Functional Genomics Symposium 2026
On behalf of the Organising Committee, we invite you to the 5th Australian Functional Genomics Symposium, to be held over 2 days on 27th and 28th of November 2026.
This event will bring together the clinical community involved in disease gene discovery and Australian research groups using a diverse array of disease model systems for the characterisation of genetic variants.
Invited speakers will showcase current and emerging approaches to functional investigations across a variety of disease areas as well as insights into translation into the diagnostic pipeline. By combining the diverse knowledge of many aspects of genomic and functional interpretation, we hope to draw out critical discussion and novel approaches to understanding human genomic variation in the rare disease context.

Early bird registration closes: 30 October 2026
REGISTRATION FEES
Standard delegate: $160 ($135 with early bird discount*)
Early career researcher: $130 ($110 with early bird discount*)
This rate applies to those up to 5 years post PhD conferral, taking into account any career disruptions.
Student: $100 ($85 with early bird discount*)
This rate applies to any full time or part time student. You will be asked to show your current student ID at the registration desk on arrival.
*Early bird discount automatically applied if purchased by 30th October.
MCRI Staff and Students
If wanting a staff reimbursement for this event, please register a MCRI ticket - payment will be arranged through internal cost transfer instead and prices will apply as per above including early bird.

SYMPOSIUM FEES & INCLUSIONS
Your ticket will include:
• Entry to Symposium Sessions (Friday 27 November-Saturday 28 November)
• Lunch, morning and afternoon tea (Friday 27 November-Saturday 28 November)
• One ticket to the Symposium Social Event (Friday 27 November)
Day registration and additional tickets to the social event are available on request.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations must be advised in writing to functional.genomics@mcri.edu.au by 18 November 2026. Refunds (minus a $15 cancellation fee) will be issued for cancellations made by this date. Refunds after 18 November 2026, will only be issued in exceptional circumstances (minus the cancellation fee). Substitute delegates will be accepted. All refunds are processed after the Symposium concludes.
