Timothy Roberts, President of the NSW Council for Civil Liberties, will be discussing the suppression of the broader Palestine solidarity movement in Australia, implications for our democracy, a particular concern given what the movement represents, and possible ways forward as a community.NSW Council for Civil Liberties is a volunteer run civil liberties organisation focusing on advocacy in the media and with government about civil liberties issues - for example, to secure amendments to laws or changes in policy where civil liberties are not fully respected; monitoring and fighting against infringement of these rights and liberties and the abuse of power by government, its agencies and others; and advocating to strengthen democratic rights and liberties.
