About
The Norwegian Ale Hen is a delightful old form of traditional drinking vessel, usually a type of folk art and decorated as such. The Ale Hen varies from that other well known Scandinavian drinking vessel, the Kuksa, of the Swedish/Saami tradition - in that the Ale Hen was normally carved in the form of a chook, duck, goose or swan. They are also fun to make!This is a 2 part workshop. We will start out with a nice big block of Basswood, and carve our Ale Hens from there. The next step is to do the painting, in the design and colours of your choice. Hopefully we will get it all done over the two consecutive Wednesday evenings.
This will be a lot of fun, and no previous experience is necessary. Think: carving a spoon with a deep bowl and two shaped handles at opposite ends. I'll drink to that!
Open to people of any gender from anywhere in Perth, young and old, minimum age 12. Kids must be accompanied by a participating paid up adult. This could be a great experience to share with your offspring. Maximum number of workshop participants is 8.
Cost per entry ticket is $240 incl.GST. Admit one person.
NOTE: Everybody entering the workshop space must wear sturdy covered shoes. No open toed shoes, no Crocs, no pumps - the whole foot covered.
Location: 89C Briggs Street, Carlisle 6101, WA.
Duration: Two sessions of 2.5 hours, from 5:30-8:00pm on the two consecutive Wednesday evenings.
