We invite you to our 53rd AGM followed by a talk on Melbourne's boom and bust 1880-90s.The land boom of the 1880s in Melbourne was one of the great speculative booms in history, while the crash that followed was the worst economic disaster in Victoria's history. In this talk Historian and author Peter Yule will illustrate the main themes of the boom and bust through the contrasting fortunes of two of the best known families in Victoria, the Baillieus and the Buxtons. Peter Yule has had a long career as a freelance professional historian and has written over thirty books including a biography of W L Baillieu and a history of the Buxton family.
