Raingardens
About
Water plays a vital role in every garden, yet in urban environments we often treat rain as a problem rather than a resource. This online session will cover:
• how water moves through natural and built landscapes
• why stormwater matters
• how home gardeners can respond to a drying and warming climate
• the links between rainfall, runoff, waterways and garden health
Learn what raingardens are, how they work, and how they can be used to capture, filter and support the reuse of stormwater at home. Participants will hear about different raingarden types, how to choose a suitable location, key design and safety considerations, plant selection for wet and dry conditions, and the basic steps involved in planning, building, planting and maintaining a raingarden.
This practical and engaging workshop brought to you by Yarra Ranges Gardens for Wildlife will be presented by Sustainable Gardening Australia.
