Studio8 - Album launch
About
Studio8 are launching their new album, Moonstruck, at The Gig Room, Bundanoon Club, with a special Saturday afternoon show that promises original songs, warm storytelling, and beautifully crafted live music.Featuring Luke and Michelle Johnson, Studio8 brings together two musicians who live, work, write, and perform side by side. Luke has been singing and playing guitar since he was 12, and also plays banjo and ukulele. Michelle has spent the past decade playing piano and the past five years developing her voice as a singer. Together, they have been writing songs for many years, drawing on life, love, travel, memory, and their move from Sydney to the Southern Highlands.
Their musical influences are broad and rich. Luke’s songwriting and performance style has been shaped by artists including Keith Urban, Jim Croce, Paul McCartney and Paul Kelly, while Michelle draws inspiration from The Beatles, Elton John, Carole King and Dolly Parton. Vocally, they cite artists such as John Farnham, Freddie Mercury, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Adele and Carole King.
These days, Studio8 perform their own original songs, bringing the confidence of full-time musicians who regularly play paid gigs and festivals. Their first song together, Goodbye Frankie, tells the story of moving from Sydney to the Southern Highlands, setting the tone for a catalogue built on personal stories and heartfelt melodies.
Moonstruck will be launched at The Gig Room, Bundanoon Club, on Saturday 18 July 2026, from 1pm to 3pm.
