The next Twilight seminar will be held on Thursday 6 August in Supreme Court 3 at 5:00pm on the topic “How to Read a Statute".The aim of this seminar will be to provide several practical tips to help ACT legal practitioners navigate statutes. These tips draw on John's experience as both a legislative drafter and tribunal member. He will illustrate the tips using examples from ACT and Commonwealth statutes, which are likely the statutes that are most relevant for ACT legal practitioners. However, much of what will be discussed applies generally to Australian statutes.
Please arrive at 5.00pm to allow us to start on time.
