Join us for an afternoon of music presented by the VCE Music Repertoire Performance students of Bendigo Senior Secondary College.As part of their VCE studies, students prepare recital programs that demonstrate advanced technical skill, expressive musicianship, and an understanding of a variety of musical styles and performance conventions. This concert features selected works from their recital programs, showcasing their growth as both soloists and ensemble performers and celebrating the dedication and artistry they have developed throughout the year.
Experience a diverse musical journey featuring vocal, violin, and piano performances, ranging from Baroque and Romantic works to jazz, ragtime and musical theatre. The performers for this concert are vocalists Ava Cossens and Matilda Wilby, violinist Lucy Huang, and pianist Michael McLean. They are joined by piano accompanist Melanie Cosier.
Ava, Matilda, Lucy, and Michael are senior students studying Unit 3 & 4 Music Repertoire Performance.
Ava has been singing for 6 years and enjoys multiple styles including classical and musical theatre. Ava has been involved in multiple productions both with BTC and NexusBYT. Outside of singing, Ava studies both acting and dancing. She hopes to one day pursue a career onstage
Matilda commenced formal vocal training 5 years ago, receiving multiple awards for her onstage performances including a Musical Theatre Guild of Victoria award and is a current participant of the Accelerando Program through the Melbourne Recital Centre. Recent lead performances include the Operatic Servant Girl (Langley Estate), and Marian Parroo (The Music Man, NexusBYT). She hopes to pursue a career onstage.
Lucy has studied the violin for over ten years. She has performed in both orchestras and string quartets, gaining valuable ensemble experience. In addition to performing, she teaches violin and enjoys supporting others in their musical development. Outside of music, she spends her time dancing, singing, and practicing kung fu.
Michael has been playing the piano since he was 7 and has had three teachers in that time. Dorothy Siggs, Rachel Cheeseman and currently Katie Kim. He also has learnt to play the trumpet, and enjoys playing the piano at church on occasion. Outside of music he enjoys maths, science and plays croquet.
